Custom Wave-Return Seawalls
for Waterfront Properties

A wave-return seawall, also called a wave wall, has a curved profile designed to redirect wave run-up back toward the water, rather than allowing as much water to travel over the wall and onto the property behind it.

That curved profile is designed to help protect the waterfront lawns, landscaping, patios and outdoor areas, and soil behind the wall.

K.E. Braza's new custom forming capability allows us to construct this curved wave-return profile for direct waterfront applications.

Every shoreline is different. We start with a site visit and shoreline evaluation to determine whether a wave wall or another seawall solution fits your property.

Signs Your Seawall May Need Repair

Many seawall problems begin gradually before becoming major structural failures. Addressing issues early can often extend the life of your seawall and reduce repair costs.

Common signs include:

  • Cracked or deteriorating concrete

  • Leaning or bowing seawalls

  • Erosion behind the seawall

  • Sinkholes or settling near the shoreline

  • Rotting timber components

  • Rusted or failing steel components

  • Missing backfill material

  • Storm damage after coastal flooding

  • Water washing through or beneath the wall

If you notice any of these issues, scheduling a professional inspection can help determine whether repairs are possible or if replacement is the better long-term solution.

FAQs

Types of Seawalls We Build

Our team has experience constructing and repairing several types of seawalls depending on shoreline conditions, site requirements, and project goals.

Concrete Seawalls

Durable, long-lasting structures are commonly used to protect residential, commercial, and municipal waterfront properties.

Vinyl Seawalls

Low-maintenance seawalls designed to resist corrosion while providing excellent shoreline protection. K.E. Braza evaluates your shoreline conditions, site access, and project goals to determine whether vinyl sheet piling is the right fit, and walks you through your options during your site visit.

Steel Sheet Pile Seawalls

Heavy-duty seawalls are designed for demanding marine environments and commercial applications. K.E. Braza evaluates shoreline conditions, site access, and project goals to determine whether steel sheet piling is the right solution, and walks you through your options during your site visit.

Timber Seawalls

Repair and replacement of traditional timber seawalls commonly found along older Connecticut and Rhode Island shorelines.

Riprap and Boulder Revetment Shoreline Protection

Natural stone systems designed to reduce erosion while protecting vulnerable shorelines. In phase three of a two-year restoration at the Wadawanuck Club, we shored up more than 2,150 feet of shorefront with 3-ton boulder revetment stone and added granite seawall cap stone.

Our Seawall Construction Process

Every project begins with understanding your shoreline and designing the right solution.

Our typical process includes:

  1. Initial site visit and shoreline evaluation

  2. Assessment of existing seawall conditions

  3. Discussion of repair or replacement options

  4. Confirmation that required permits are in place

  5. Material selection based on shoreline conditions

  6. Professional construction by our experienced marine construction team

  7. Final inspection and project walkthrough

For waterfront projects that involve additional structural work, K.E. Braza also provides foundation installation and related site preparation, allowing our team to coordinate multiple phases of complex coastal construction projects.

Shoreline Restoration & Erosion Control

Shoreline restoration goes beyond aesthetics—it's about rebuilding and protecting your land from long-term environmental damage. Whether your shoreline is receding, unstable, or overgrown, we can help restore its natural function and beauty.

Our Shoreline Restoration Services Include:

  • Riprap and natural revetments

  • Grading and slope stabilization

  • Vegetation and native plantings

  • Erosion control systems

  • Drainage and runoff mitigation

Our shoreline restoration and shoreline excavation and site work services often complement seawall projects, including grading, slope stabilization, drainage improvements, and site preparation needed to create a more complete shoreline protection solution.
